In the Parishes of Ss Mary & David in Hawick, The Immaculate Conception in Jedburgh and St Mary’s in Kelso, children begin their sacramental preparation when they reach school class P4. During the course of one year they prepare for and receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) for the first time followed by First Holy Communion.
Children prepare for and receive Confirmation once they reach P7.
Children who are enrolled at a local Catholic Primary School do their preparation at school. Children who are enrolled at other schools attend classes run by parish catechists at the parish house in Hawick.
